New Hydrogen Refueling Station Inaugurated at the Port of Gothenburg
In a pilot project, Hydri, in collaboration with the Port of Gothenburg, has now inaugurated a hydrogen refueling station. The station is crucial to ensuring that the many heavy vehicles that transport goods in and around the port in the future operate without carbon emissions. The pilot project is funded by the Swedish Energy Agency and aims to create the necessary infrastructure for the transition to green hydrogen to become a reality.
The hydrogen refueling station is strategically located at Port 6 and its "RoRo" terminal, one of Sweden's busiest hubs for trucks.
– Green hydrogen has great potential to drive the transition of heavy transportation. With this pilot project, we are showing the way forward toward a carbon-neutral transport sector," says Michel Thomas, CEO of Qarlbo Energy and Chairman of Hydri.
The transport sector accounts for nearly a quarter of global greenhouse gas emissions and is one of the largest emitters alongside industry. Heavy vehicles alone represent about 25% of road transport emissions within the EU.
Hydri Infrastructure is a subsidiary of Qarlbo Energy, jointly owned by Qarlbo and FAM, focusing on creating the energy systems of tomorrow.
